Who are we: Artist run Residency hosted by Visual artist Trond E. S Indsetviken, painter- textile art and Robert Khoury- graphic designer, bobbin lace maker. Our philosopy is to live with the nature.
What are we: Natthagen started as an art gallery in 2003 and developed into an art and culture place in 2018. Here you will find a local historic museum, a small exhibition room, a little studio in the old timber barn from 1890.
Where are we: Situated in Julussdalen, a small valley in the municipality of Elverum, south- east of Norway, Natthagen is located in the middle of a beautiful pine forest, nearby, the historical river Julussa and the lake Ryssjøen. It is a peaceful and a quiet place, perfect to work, plan and to reflect in clean nature and fresh air.
Application: We encourage applications from Norwegian and International professional artists that are members of an artist organization, working in one of these fields: visual art, textile, sculpture, digital art, land art, crafts, writing, curating and music. (see application form).
You need to bring your own materials and equipments.
The residents will be asked to do one of the following: a small workshop, a lecture, readings, mini concert, a presentation of work in the studio during the stay.
The studio: There is a little studio in the barn suitable for working in smaller formats. In 2021 we have build a new studio of 18 m2 with lots of natural light, and a beautiful view to the nature. We have the whole nature here for Plein air/ Earth art works. There is some basic materials in the studio, pencils, colour pencils, watercolours and there is a sewing and filting machine, a small graphic press.
It is possible to use a big working table on the terrace. “Vinterstuggu”- the glass veranda- is a perfect place to sit, read or do some sketches.
Accomodation: Gamalstu, an old timber house ( 1790) with a small kitchen with cooking facilities, a tiny bedroom and a sofa bed is available for one or two artist friends. Gamalstu has electricity and a small wood oven for cosy heating, separate toilet and shower (50 meters walk). No tv.

Longer stay can be arranged after agreement.
Transport: There is no public transportation. You need to bring your own car, rent a car from the airport or you can take the train to Rena station and we pick you up there.
Supermarket shopping can be organized.
Grants: Unfortunately we are currently unable to provide financial assistance for the artists in residence.
Prices for 2023 (pr. person):
Two weeks NOK 3500,- EUR 350
One month NOK 6600,- EUR 650
From 2023, we will require a 25% deposit for approved residential stays.
Prices include bed linen, towels, access to washing machine, private bathroom, studio with wifi 50GB for free, if you need more GB you need to buy.
Residents are responsible for their travel, personal work materials, food and personal expences during the residency.
You will receive payment details by e- mail when you are accepted as our AiR guest.
